Hello all,

February has sailed past with lots of following-up on opportunities presented to Sportin MS from January. We were also invited to present the charity to the Reigate Business Guild, another great local contact in which we were delighted to receive such a welcomed reception. Hopefully this will lead to not only added fundraising support, but also a great platform to present the charity further and wider. At all these things, I’ve discovered that there are lots of people associated with MS, through family members or friends and hopefully they will all get in-touch and join me in growing our Sportin MS community.

Savills’ charity dinner is on Friday 31st March at Reigate Priory Cricket Club; an evening of great food and challenging fundraising activities. Get in touch with Sarah Tye if you would like to attend: rpcc.events@hotmail.com. We’re also full steam ahead in planning our annual event, “The Wild Wild West” on the 30th June at Old Reigatian Rugby Club. Again, you can look forward to fine food, music entertainment, raffle prizes, fantastic auction items and other exciting ‘fun-raising’ activities. If you haven’t yet, confirm your table by emailing me at sportinms@gmail.com.

My MS has been challenging recently. I no longer have days where I can just go about my business. Sitting to standing and general walking requires some effort and concentration. I still go to the gym but under duress. However, I do believe that my full mobility is possible simply because my muscles have a routine of movement, and repetition builds memory recall. I have also developed what is called “MS Hugs”… A ridiculous name for a very painful, irregular shooting pain in one’s chest. The MS hug occurs because messages from nerves are blocked or disrupted by the damage caused by MS. The feeling of tightness around the chest can be due to spasms in the intercostal muscles. This symptom is a progression for me unfortunately, coming and going, sometimes daily, without warning and quite frightening. Treatment is next week, after which I can relax and look forward to spring.

Do always feel free to get in-touch.

Lots of Love

Antoinette
