Founder's Blog #33

Hello all,

I have so much to tell you, I don’t even know where to start!!

As you know, the whole purpose of this charity is to provide mental and emotional support for those with MS. I believe this is so important. From the moment of diagnosis, people need to build a positive attitude to daily life. MS sufferers learn more from each other purely because the disease is so random and unpredictable, leaving medical professionals unable to risk false calculations or predictions. Sharing is educating, both with strategies and mental approaches to coping with MS. And with that in mind, I want to build a community and support network for MS sufferers and their loved ones, something currently lacking in the UK. There have been times where I truly thought I was flogging a dead horse and questioned whether we could ever turn the concept in to reality.

Thanks to Lin Packham, I was finally able to meet with the powers-that-be at and with the greatest amount of pleasure and excitement, I can share with you… Sportin MS has been invited to begin a support network at East Surrey hospital. Working with the MS nurse, we will begin what will hopefully become The Sportin MS Centre. I am so overwhelmed by this achievement and excited to get started.

Having said all that, your support is even more important now, as we will be funding this new stage. Please, when you are deciding your monthly charity direct debit, choose Sportin MS! Be part of the beginning of something very special and watch us grow.

Those of you who were unable to come to the Wild Wild West Event, we toasted to this new phase of the charity. It was a great evening – unforgettable and once again, everyone jumped into the themed dinner with both feet. It was overwhelming to see the various age groups as well as the MS community coming together to support us, thank you so much. Keep your eyes peeled for our total figure of money raised from the event, which we will post soon.

Lots of love, Antoinette
