Founder's Blog #23

Hello all,

Well, it’s been a little while – apologies for no February news but I was quite unwell with flu and other goings-on. However, here we are – the sun is shining (trying to) and we have had another fabulous month for Sportin MS.

We have raised £1075 between the Bingo Fish & Chips night and a donation from Old Reigatian Rugby Club; a charity car parking fee was donated to Sportin MS, during a recent tournament. We have plans in the works for more events once the weather improves, just in time for my return from Trinidad, to visit my family.

The charity’s accountant, Kevin Jardine (FCCA MBA), also a Trustee, is encouraging me to follow through on searching for local premises. The site’s purpose would not only be for counselling and providing a social haven for MS sufferers and their loved ones. It would also include the opportunity for therapies to help cope and manage the mental struggles of MS. I am extremely excited about the prospect and would encourage anyone, where possible to make Sportin MS their monthly charitable donation. My hesitation so far comes from wanting to be assured that we can maintain the facility financially, without cutting corners. With this, I want to thank and encourage your support for Sportin MS and please do continue to contribute because you have all made the dream possible so far.

I had my treatment at St. George’s, all good. It was confirmed to me that three months after treatment, I will always have another full Covid vaccine, so May 2022 will be my fourth. My treatment compromises my immune system so a booster jab will not quite to “cut it”, as they say.

My daughter Tiasha and her story will continue over the next few days on the website. Once again, I encourage people to write in with their stories using the website’s email address, the text can be posted anonymously if preferred, so that we can help others by sharing. Look forward to updating again next month.

Lots of love

Antoinette
